Type Locality and Naming

Hexi corridor (Gansu-Qinghai). Located in the northeast of Kuquan Village east of Xingxingxia in the Northern Subei Mongolia Autonomous County. Named by Zhang Mingshu in 1964.


Lithology and Thickness

Lithologically orange-red sandy mudstone with variegated mudstone and sandy conglomerate, locally intercalated with fresh-water limestone lenses containing salts and gypsum. The thickness is 10–246 m.

Its base is not observed. Next older regional unit is Hongya Fm.
